Privacy
Navigate Berkeley is a small test with friends. To make the plans better, it keeps a log of how it's used.
What's logged
- What you type: your request, your answers to its questions, and any changes you make.
- The plans you're shown: the places, buses and times in them.
- Your choices: which plan you start, and suggestions you dismiss.
Each line is tagged with a random ID your browser made (below), not your name or account. There are no accounts.
What isn't
- No location history. Your phone's location is only used to work out where a plan starts. The coordinates aren't stored: a start from your location is logged as “Current location”.
- No IP addresses in the logs. They're held in memory for a short time to rate-limit requests, then dropped.
- No ads, analytics or trackers.
Who sees it
Ryan, to fix and test the planner. What you type is sent to Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service to read it. Bus times come from 511.org; nothing about you is sent there. The map loads from OpenFreeMap, like any map on the web.
Logs are kept for the friends test. Bus arrival data (not about you) is kept for 14 days, then only hourly per-route summaries are kept.
Getting your data deleted
Send Ryan this ID (however you got the invite code) and Ryan will delete every log line with it. Clearing this site's data gives you a new ID, so copy it first.
